Through 10 weeks of live instruction with replays available to review content, you'll get 15 hours of trauma-informed training, practical tools and language to become a specialist in fields like teaching, medicine, parenting, the legal system, faith communities & churches.

A Healing Circle with Weekly Q & A

Learning about trauma can bring up lost memories and experiences from the past. Your instructor will lead a weekly healing circle session to help unpack what's coming up for you throughout the course and answer questions to ensure your complete understanding of all materials.

Competence for Expert Influence

Competency means that the Certified Trauma Specialist demonstrates understanding of the concepts through an ability to explain, discuss and apply that understanding to real -world work with trauma survivors as well as agencies and programs that work with them.

What We Will Cover In This Course...

Understanding Trauma

We will cover what trauma is, how it affects a person, and its impact on their worldview. This understanding will help the specialist discern and respond in a trauma-informed way in relationships and interactions.
The Aftereffects of Trauma on the Mind, Body & Emotions

The impact of trauma touches every aspect of a person's life. Students will discover those aftereffects and become aware of what's happening in interactions when a person's trauma is triggered. With that awareness, students will also learn ways to re-establish safety in interactions and move from activation to regulation.
Intergenerational Trauma & the Family System

The impact of trauma can be felt for generations and ways of coping can be modeled and passed down. We will explore both the epigenetic (nature) and modeled behavioral (nurture) impacts of the family system on brain development.

Multi-dimensionality and the Trauma Survivor

Developing the capacity to understand trauma in the context of social, gender, racial, ethnic and historical frameworks, students will learn how to create a safe space for all parts of a person in spite of perceived or real differences.
The Certified Trauma Specialist as a Career

Take what you've learned and incorporate it into your

current occupation or field. Applying a trauma-informed lens is beneficial to any workplace such as education, the legal system, the medical field, places of worship and more.
Reclaiming the Authentic Self after Relational Abuse

Trauma and abuse have a significant impact on people's ability to experience healthy relationships. Students will learn how to integrate and reclaim lost parts of one's Self and cultivate the development of the whole person.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

KIMBERLY WEEKS, CTRC-S

I am a trauma survivor, public speaker and Certified Supervisor and Advanced Trauma Recovery Coach under the supervision of the International Association of Trauma Recovery Coaching (IAOTRC). As a coach, I work with and support people who have experienced childhood trauma, codependency, narcissistic and psychological abuse through one-on-one coaching, courses and coaching communities.

As the Director of Leadership with the International Association of Trauma Recovery Coaching, I support a team of compassionately equipped supervisors who consult with the network of trauma recovery coaches across the globe. I also have the opportunity to teach coursework on every level of competency within the IAOTRC.

I was brought to coaching after a 13-year abusive marriage and a health diagnosis that left me searching for answers on the impact of long-term abuse on the mind-body. I began my own recovery and loved the trauma-informed process so much, I wanted to help others. As both a childhood and narcissistic abuse survivor, it is my passion to support the recovery and discovery of identity and life purpose for those I teach and coach.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We want to help you navigate the process for your certification. Below are the most frequently asked questions to help you get ready for the journey.

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THIS COURSE?

Students will register for the course through the International Association of Trauma Recovery Coaching's website; www.iaotrc.com/ctscourse.

Students will pay a 25% deposit of $550 to the Association for course enrollment and receive information to pay in full or set up a payment plan for the remaining balance. All deposits are non-refundable.

WHAT CAN I DO WITH THIS CERTIFICATION?

The Certified Trauma Specialist course gives an individual an in depth knowledge of trauma, the various forms that it takes, how it might impact an individual, as well as ways that this information can be integrated into a career or trauma-informed business services. You may offer trauma-informed interactions, psychoeducation and formulate policies and procedures that are trauma-informed in your and other’s businesses.

For example, if one is a teacher, they can use their certification as a Trauma Specialist to make their classroom experience more trauma- informed as well as understand the behaviors and responses of their students through a trauma-informed lens.

If one is a business owner, they can use their certification as a Trauma Specialist to develop policies and procedures that make it safer and easier for trauma survivors to access their services, as well as understand why some of their customers may have the needs and responses they do in interacting with your business.

The informed, education and aware individual is a valued asset to any room they enter whether business, relational or community.

WHAT IF I CAN'T ATTEND A CLASS LIVE? WILL THERE BE A REPLAY?

If you are unable to attend class live, the replay for each class will be available within 48 hours of the end of class.

In order to get the most out of the course, each student will need to be present for 7 out of 10 live classes.

WHAT IS THE COURSE COST AND ARE PAYMENT PLANS AVAILABLE?

The total cost of the course is $2200. The course deposit of 25% ($550) is due when you enroll with the IAOTRC. Payment options include a lump sum payment after deposit of $1550 ($100 discount to pay balance), two payments of $825, or 4 payments of $420. In order to go on to additional certification levels, you will need to have all payments settled for the CTS certification.

WHERE CAN I COMMUNICATE WITH MY INSTRUCTOR AND CLASSMATES?

Students will be given access to the IAOTRC's Mighty Networks community and their instructor's course platform.

HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE BEING TAKEN PER SEMESTER?

Each class has 15 seats available with a maximum of two classes of 30 students per semester.

WHEN ARE CLASSES & HOW LONG DOES THE COURSE LAST?

Classes begin on June 1, 2023 with 2 time options for students. There will be a Thursday evening class at 7:00 p.m. EST and a Friday morning class at 11:00 am EST.

The course lasts 10 weeks with one 90 minute Course Instruction session per week and one 60 minute Healing Circle session per week to answer questions from class.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE COURSE? IS THERE ANOTHER LEVEL OF CERTIFICATION I CAN TAKE?

Once you've completed your CTS certification, you will be eligible to take the next level of coursework and become a Certified Trauma Recovery Coach through the IAOTRC. In order to advance, all payments for the CTS certification must be settled, you must meet all course competencies, and pass the final exam.
